What We Do

Trans* Jersey is a gender clinic pilot in Jersey, Channel Islands, which has been created to provide primary care that is safe, timely and easy to navigate. We are a partnership between Liberate (the Channel Islands equality and diversity charity delivering services, advice and information to the LGBTQ+ community) and YES (the Youth Enquiry Service, a project of Jersey Youth Service that provides young people with free confidential, information, advice and counselling).

The gender clinic is the culmination of several years of work to develop an improved model of care for trans and non-binary people, which reduces waiting times, removes barriers to accessing care and is delivered on-Island.

We know that trans and non-binary people are the experts of their own experience, and that is why this service has been developed by and for our trans* community. Our services are informed by trans and non-binary experience, with trans and non-binary people guiding and informing them at all levels.

We offer trans and non-binary people different ways to access support services. This includes holistic assessments of an individual’s needs and offers referrals and signposting to other services.

Our support is person-centred – we recognise that there are many ways to be trans and non-binary and we tailor our support to meet each person’s individual needs. There is no standard route, speed or order of interventions anyone needs to follow.

We make sure that care is safe, inclusive and affirmative. We do this by supporting trans and non-binary people to be well informed about their choices by sharing knowledge, explaining options, promoting health, and supporting people to make decisions that are right for them, at their pace. We work within current, applicable health care regulations and guidance to ensure that our care is safe.
